    Will We Learn?
A SEQEB Family Recalls the Sellout
by Marg and Jack
as told to Bill O'Brien

An interview with a family involved in the SEQEB dispute of 1985.
"We had the support there that day but we didn't have any leadership. There were guys who walked out of that meeting and said 'What the bloody hell did we come here for?' One leading official got up there and spoke like a bloody old nannygoat - they didn't want to hear that bullshit. Now after that meeting we went down to Parliament House and had a picket, sacked SEQEB blokes with a lot of our supporters. That same (union) official got up that night on TV, referred to the sacked workers as 'unruly rabble' and the people who were supporting us as bloody 'rent-a-crowd'. That was the very same bloody night"
